Many people realise that
traditional, planned ways of trying to bring about change often
don’t produce their intended results. The business environment
is too complex and too rapidly changing for any one blueprint to
cover all the eventualities. And making change happen in leaner,
flatter organisations has to get buy-in from all key
stakeholders - not easy unless they:
|
are involved in making and revising the plan as it goes
forward
|
|
actively support change where it emerges, by creating
opportunities for fast trials.
|
The problem - how to bring about coherent change in complex
adaptive systems - is widely recognised, but few answers have
hitherto been articulated to solve it.
However, this doesn’t mean that the
only thing left for those leading change is to just ride the
chaos and try to stay on as best they can.
Over the past 17 years Bath Consultancy Group has assisted a
wide range of organisational transformations and has gradually
developed a series of methods for successfully overcoming the
main blockages faced at different stages and at different levels
in organisations. Over the past year we have put these together
into an integrated package around Emergent Change.
This workshop is designed for those actively leading change
within organisations, whether as line managers or change
specialists. The group is aimed at creating a peer learning
group of skilled internal change leaders from a range of
organisations.
This workshop begins at 5.00pm on 31st March and ends at 4.00pm
on 2nd April and will work as a balance of a whole learning
group dialogue, small focused facilitated groups and exploration
of the emergent change model and framework.
On the workshop we will be:
1. Working on your individual
capacities, styles and approaches as change leaders - pursued
with ‘ruthless compassion’ in small-group settings - whilst
working in real time on “live” change situations you currently
face in your organisations.
2. Deepening an understanding of emergent change in your own
current situations:
|
Understanding where change currently works well and what
blocks change |
|
Creating opportunities for fast trial experiments |
|
Exploring what happens when leaders (and others) try to help
or to influence change |
|
Attending to the wider culture that embeds the system that is
stuck or blocked |
|
How to integrate strategic cultural and leadership
developments |
3. Working with:
|
Emergent Change |
|
How to map organisational patterns - interrupt stuck patterns
- and create ‘change contagion’ |
|
Multiple Stakeholder Engagement |
