Chris Smith celebrates 10 years with the business
Join us in congratulating Chris on this mile stone
Chris's connection started even earlier than ten years ago. He was a client at Cable and Wireless and a member of the original LVN group in 2001. Following that he worked as an associate with BCG before coming on board. Over the years he joined the leadership team, the Exec team and the Board. From a client perspective he led a number of pursuits and contributed to many long term relationships – Unilever, Microsoft, Baker McKenzie, EY, Royal Society for Arts Manufacture and Commerce, Cannon, and many others.
Chris’ peers said it best when they wrote that Chris is a man of enormous integrity and client sensitivity. He has always been a steadfast supportive and insightful colleague.
A nice quote from one of our Principal Consultant's Mike Worsley to celebrate #internationalcoachingweek
'When in doubt, never forget the The Miracle Question in a coaching conversation - a method of questioning that a coach uses to aid the client to envision how the future will be different when the problem is no longer present, can unlock that stuck situation like no other question...'

Change for sustainability
What are the change challenges of leading around sustainability?
In what way is this change issue any different to any other?
Sustainability affects every part of the business or organisation - from cradle to grave, supply chain to end of life product use, from brand image to corporate reporting, and how leaders make decisions and choices.
It attracts strong feelings - passionate advocates and determined sceptics and many who find it easy to ignore.
We have been reflecting on what makes this type of change process challenging after recent discussions at the Guardian Sustainability leadership workshop with sustainability leaders and after our successful first UK event of the ISIS Academy Masterclass on Change in Sustainability.
Welcome to Danela Ezekiel
Danela has recently joined our team as a Principal Consultant after relocating to UK from South Africa. Danela has extensive experience in leadership development, HR development, team coaching and organisational change.
Danela first became associated with Bath Consultancy Group in 1994, after meeting Peter Hawkins at a conference, firstly contracting us to work for her and then for the last 17 years, working both as a Director in a Leadership Consultancy – YSA (PTY)Ltd and on behalf of us as an associate in South Africa , Danela now joins us as a Principal Consultant.
Danela’ expertise includes guiding organisations through turbulent times. “While I believe in winning the hearts of employees toward change, change initiatives are often solely focused on this and not accompanied by learning and understanding about the change. I have developed interventions for this for many years in various contexts".
Danela has a passion for designing bespoke interventions and development programmes “I get a thrill when I can help Bankers or Engineers access and name their feelings, not to become more human but to assist them to make better leadership and organisational choices.”
Please join us in welcoming her.
In May, Peter Hawkins launched his latest book, Creating a Coaching Culture, and many of you joined us for an evening of wine and interesting conversations.
We held a breakfast masterclass on Creating a Coaching Culture in June, when 30 colleagues from leading organisations explored with us the issues for putting
Coaching Culture theory into practice.
It also provided a networking opportunity and many new learning relationships were formed.
Learning Value Network
Our Learning Value Network continues to meet, most recent discussions centred on trust in global virtual organisations which was aptly described in a colleague's blog.
This network of OD and L&D professionals within a range of organisations has met for over 10 years and is now online in LinkedIn, so do join if you are working in an organisation on OD, L&D or Talent.
Our global network is increasingly involved in our work with 65% of our revenues now outside the UK. We are looking to add to the network in Asia Pacific, especially Singapore and Beijing, as well as in Brazil and South America more generally where we are seeing increased demand.
At our annual network learning conference this year we will see more international colleagues than ever with people coming from from Manilla, Germany, Finland, USA, South Africa and Wales!
As part of this global network, we are providing a wider executive coaching service with a 3rd global client onboard soon – currently 50 coaches provided coaching to 200 clients over the last 3 years and numbers look set to rise especially in Asia Pacific.

What is Learning Transformation?
Learning and development in the private and public sectors is being scrutinised and asked to demonstrate increased efficiency and effectiveness. This has led to a raft of learning functions undergoing asystematic change programme, and the coining of the phrase – Learning Transformation.
So what does a Learning transformation include:
- A different learning model?
- A reduction in learning spend?
- The introduction of a single Learning Management System?
- New learning capabilities and a completely new learning team?
- Everything offshore or outsourced?
It can be any or all of the above. So what is right for you and your organisation?
Why not come along to Learning Transformation Seminar and join the debate. To register and join our 5 minute on line research prior to the event click here…
This interactive event will be led by David Fawcitt and Chris Smith of Bath Consultancy Group, with case studies from two large global learning transformations and output of our research.
This network evening will include discussions around key areas:
- Learning frameworks and models
- Content rationalisation

Winning Leadership for the New Economic Climate
The banking crisis has had an effect on every aspect of the economy and business - but what is happening within financial sector organisations?
Has the culture of the organisation changed in light of industry events, how is the business responding to the change, are new strategies being effectively implemented and how are leaders coping with taking their organisation and people through the economic crisis
These were some of the key questions that we were asking. This inquiry has enabled us to ask senior leaders in top-tier financial institutions both in the UK and abroad about how their organisations, their people and importantly themselves are faring as we navigate through this period.
There is unprecedented pressure placed on leaders. Operating under external scrutiny, maintaining motivation and morale, rapidly responding to changing conditions and rebuilding trust amongst many stakeholders are just some of the challenges being faced.
This report has asked in-depth questions of a select group of senior financial services leaders. We aim to understand the pressures, and by understanding to stand beside the industry to rebuild faith, morale and engagement so that the banks can thrive again.
