What made you want to join Bath Consultancy Group?
Writing this on Valentine’s Day (just the one card, since you ask…), I think it’s been a gentle courtship! We started out going out together quite a while ago on some interesting dates and, as we found out we had a lot in common – and many of the same aims in life – it’s progressed slowly into a more long-term exclusive relationship!

What has most struck you since joining the team?
The BCG team is such a pleasure to spend time with. A genuine regard for our clients coupled with a passionate commitment to help them with the things that really matter to them; exceptionally high-quality thinking supporting outstanding professional practice; attention to the development of the consultant team, and a thoughtful approach to learning from our relationships with our clients and each other; a sense of fun and appreciation of each other and our different contributions; good humoured, helpful and supportive support staff.

What is your major role/contribution to the business going to be?
Helping to develop the public sector portfolio, particularly in connection with leading and working in partnerships, working with ‘whole systems’, helping organisations build better relationships with other agencies, with customers, service users and citizens to transform public services. (I am fascinated by the relationship between public and social policy, organisation learning and sustainable community development). And although I haven’t worked much in the private sector for some time, I’d be delighted to do more work there, to compare and contrast the leadership and development experiences.

What would you like our clients / colleagues to know about you?
F, 42, GSOH, married with children, part-time farmer, likes reading, riding, listening to music (I love you, iPod!) and eating out – just for research purposes, of course…. Consulting for 15 years and now also Chair of a Health Board in Wales where I am sharply reminded of the challenges in putting great leadership theory into everyday practice.

What would you most like your career with BCG to be remembered for?
On my final day with BCG, as I am helped down the stairs on the Stannah stair lift by my young pert driver, into my waiting car, clutching my simple but expensive bouquet (freesias, orchids and anemones, please) I’d like to hear (thanks to my perfectly concealed hearing aid, under my fabulous though subtle hair piece) the words “…now, she was good value…”
